Let’s look at the habits you’ve created over your lifetime, particularly those that you
feel might be holding you back from fulfilling your true potential. Write down every
habit you would like eliminate. Implement these 3 steps to the habits you want to eliminate:
STEP 1. I would like you to choose one bad habit that you would like to change immediately,
and let’s consider the pros and cons to changing this bad habit. Write down
all the reasons why you should keep the habit, and then write down all the reasons
why you should change it.
STEP 2. Compare those positives and negatives, and commit yourself to really changing this
habit, once and for all. Write down on paper your powerful, unshakable reason to
get rid of this habit forever.
STEP 3. Now consider… what good habit can you put in place of the bad habit? Make your
good habit a simple alternative to the bad habit, so it’s easy to replace the bad
one with the good one. Close your eyes and picture the positive habit you’ll use to
replace the negative habit. If you don’t have a new habit to replace the old habit,
you’ll fall right back into the same old pattern. Why? Because the trench of that bad
habit has already been built as wide and deep as the Grand Canyon. You must
begin filling the trench up with the positive new habit. Take the negative and physically throw it
away. Look at your plan for the positive and fill your trench until it overflows with the positive.
